A surprisingly reasonable question from Padma, given that it is there that all our "domestic bliss" began more than twenty-five years ago, but then I saw her pointing to the scenery in front of us. Why indeed go to Bali when all this beauty is right on our doorstep at Tuross Head?
We'd driven to Moruya for the weekend markets by the river and then lunched on roast pork with apple sauce at the local bowling club before driving the extra fifteen kilometres to Tuross Head to park outside Padma's "dream house" overlooking the beach and the South Pacific.
It seemed like a perfect day until I heard on the car radio that the Albanese Labor government, if re-elected, will give LGBTIQ+ couples and single women access to subsidised IVF treatment. More of my hard-earned tax dollars at work to create an even weirder society than it is already. No wonder this is the end of Western civilisation as we know it.
I could've used much stronger words but at the markets I had picked up Ruth Wajnryb's book "Language Most Foul" and Rolf Dobelli's "Stop Reading the News - A manifesto for a happier, calmer and wiser life".
I agree, it's about time I stopped reading all that bad news. Anyway, we're back at "Riverbend" now and there's no better place than home.
