No, not Joseph Conrad's Mr Verloc but Raine & Horne's Steven Mason who's finally put up the FOR SALE-sign across the lane at # 33.
It works like a charm: cars roll up, the occupants get out, look at #33 for about a minute, then lean across Riverbend's gate for another ten (or more) and drool. And, of course, they take away my FOR SALE leaflets. Very soon I have to order another ream.
I phoned Steve to thank him for all this exposure but suggested that he might be living dangerously. I mean, someone who saw those deceptively inviting images on his webpage and then travelled all the way from Sydney may be just a little put out when seeing the real thing.
Steven agreed that his advertising is, as he puts it, 'a bit borderline'. To be on the safe side, he only put his mobile number on the sign ☺
