Like the German industrialists who coddled Adolf Hitler for their own cynical reasons, big business in the "Land of the Brave and the Home of the Brave" supported Trump's tax cuts for the rich, the unravelling of Obamacare, and the winding back of environmental protection laws.
Now, as thugs roam through the Capitol, they are running for cover with cries of mock innocence, "This has gone too far." And suddenly, after four long years, the social media barons have found the "courage" to close or suspend those accounts that enabled Trump's demagoguery.
Trump's behaviour in recent days should be seen as the final exit ramp on the road to infamy. The ideal solution would be to put him on a remote island like St. Helena, Napoleon’s final home, where he could live out his days deprived of internet access and cable TV.
January 20th can't come soon enough. Until then, a man untethered from reality still holds the nuclear codes (although he has been deemed too dangerous to have a twitter account). Make America safe again!
