Last night's candle-lit chanting was Padma's last stand at the Buddhist retreat and, while it's pouring down with rain here at "Riverbend" and I'm heating up a can of Campbells' soup for lunch, she's leaving Yogyakarta by fast train for Surabaya.
She's emailed me this photo with her new glasses which are a lot cheaper there than here; in fact, these have cost her nothing as they are a gift from her cousin who owns a shop selling glasses. If she had a cousin who owns a bookshop, I might have come along on the trip.
I haven't heard any more from her; maybe the train is going through a tunnel. Anyway, it's time to check on that Campbell's soup on the stove.
