All Quiet On The Western Front

This story is to be neither an accusation nor a confession, and least of all an adventure, for death is not an adventure to those who stand face to face with it. It will try simply to tell of a generation of men who, even though they may have escaped its shells, were destroyed by the war." [click here]

So begins Erich Maria Remarque's book "All Quiet On The Western Front", the most famous anti-war novel ever written. Remarque wrote his novel hoping it would be the last word on war; for anyone who has never seen a war movie, maybe this should be their first. It is more grisly, more disturbing, and more sadistic than any Hollywood horror movie in 2023.

It ought to put you in the right frame of mind for ANZAC Day!
