Sunday morning at "Riverbend" after the night before is just like the night before that or the night before that - or like any other night before that for that matter. At another time, in another place - as here at Lake Cargelligo in the Central West of New South Wales - , Saturday night was very special.
Then, people dressed up for the pictures or a dance at the community hall, kids indulged in Wagon Wheels - remember Wagon Wheels? - and double-cones of ice cream, and rode standing up in the back of the ute. 11 minutes and 16 seconds into the clip (at 11:16), you can see a promo for Larry Pickering's Playmates of '79 which tells you when this brilliantly evocative short movie was made. And so does the XC Ford Falcon!
"Give me a home among the gumtrees, With lots of plum trees, A sheep or two, a k-kangaroo, A clothesline out the back, Verandah out the front, And an old rocking chair."
Take me back to the good old days - or should that be 'daze'? Everyone knew each other, you could walk to the local ... As the lyrics go: "I've been around the world, A couple of times or maybe more, I've seen the sights, I've had delights, On every foreign shore, But when my mates all ask me, The place that I adore ..." is the Australia of the 60s and 70s.
Altogether now:
