"Die ganze Welt mein Arbeitsfeld!"
(The whole world is my place of work)
My father passed away in January 1984, at which time I was still living and working in Greece which allowed me to attend his funeral. I may not have done so had I already been back in Australia, as he had been a distant father to me, and not only geographically.
As distant as he was, he would not have objected to my plagiarising his letterhead motto "Die ganze Welt mein Arbeitsfeld". Alas, he was never able to put the motto into practice, as he had grown up at a time when most Germans were visiting foreign countries only to invade them.
I have since made up for his omissions with bells on, and would like to think that he would've got a kick out of my even greatly abridged c.v.:

I'm now resting on my laurels, the first rest I've got after I had a career which was so exciting and challenging that I sometimes doubt I had it.
