Walkie Talkie

Padma seems to think that this sign contains a misspelling as she talks more than she walks - or swims - with other women in the pool while I do my laps in the adjoining lane.

Tired and hungry, we adjourned to the nearby bowling club for a decent serve of meatloaf washed down with one of Billy's Specials.

Afterwards, we visited the Lions Club's Preloved Bookshop.

I came away with "Pleasing Myself - From Beowulf to Philip Roth", a collection of essays by Frank Kermode, "The Inflammable Adams" by no other than Phillip Adams, Peter Manning's "US and Them, A Journalist's Investigation of Media, Muslims and the Middle East", and a classic story in the spirit of Khaled Hosseini's "The Kite Runner", the translation from Indonesian of "The Rainbow Troops" by Andrea Hirata.
