In the wonderful movie "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" the hero Sonny says, "In India we have a saying, 'Everything will be alright in the end'... so if it's not alright, it is not yet the end." which is a lovely way to look at the world.
We tried to share this with our new guests by giving them the movie to watch in their cottage. They loved it so much, they laughed all the way through it. We relived every moment of it on our verandah from where we could hear every gag and giggle during the hot and balmy night.
It made us wonder what the people up the lane do who live cheek-by-yowl on their 20-metre wide allotments? Do they all wish they were hearing-impaired or do they synchronise their activities and watch the same movie at the same time?
In future, I only hand out the German version. That should stop them.
Everything will be alright in the end, if you don't hear it from your neighbours.
