It is with great sadness that we report the death of Mrs Possum's little possum child. We last saw them both together sticking their pink noses out of the possum penthouse. This morning we found the body of little possum child at the bottom of the property.
It's a jungle out there at night. Mother Nature is not called a mother for nothing. You either eat or be eaten, but the body of little possum child seemed unharmed and it remains a mystery who or what killed it.
Mrs Possum seems distressed and barely ventures out of her possum penthouse and I have been serving her titbits at the end of a long stick. Maybe I should get her some counselling as well. I mean, these days our nanny state offers support for almost every other namby-pamby cause.
Is there a possum hotline? Or a government-funded support group for possum mothers who've lost their baby? When do we want it? NOW!
