The romance of train travel

This is not the SBS documentary

Lat night's documentary on SBS television, "The Ghan", was a treat - and it ran for almost as many hours as the train takes from Adelaide to Darwin. Well, not quite: the train takes 54 hours, whereas the doco ran for just three.

The train is a whole kilometre long and takes two kilometres to stop - it's the longest passenger train in the world, and I've just put it on my Perch List (at peaceful "Riverbend" you don't kick the bucket, you gently drop off the perch ☺)
