Batemans Bay has a population of some 12,000 people which some say swells to double that number during the tourist season. Swell as it might, it still only has just one butcher, one newsagent, a couple of barbers, plus the ubiquitous McDonald's, KFC, and Coffee Club, not to mention Woolworths and Coles.
It also has not one, not two, not three, but TEN real estate agents, which have just become a soccer team (or cricket, if you're that way inclined) with the arrival of Red Door Real Estate who've just mail-dropped me with a letter promising "a fresh approach with our marketing and our pro-active attitude" (real estate speak for 'we answer the phone') and "a desire to raise the bar in service for our community" (that really raised the bar as it is a completely new one).
(Their website also promises "to explore new idea's". New idea's what?)
Word mustn't have reached them yet that on my 'List of People I Really Hate' are real estate agents, real estate agents, and real estate agents - in that order.
