Il postino (the postman) has been one of my favourite films, and today, while op-shopping in Ulladulla after this morning's dental appointment, I discovered the slim 110-page novel by Antonio Skarmeta on which the film is based. What a jewel of a story!
It's pouring with rain outside, but I'm sitting inside, warm and dry, with a cup of tea, a piece (or three) of Madeira cake, and well into the story.
If you're more visually inclined (and speak fluent Italian), you may wish to watch the full-length movie on YouTube. If you want to follow me, click here, but not before you've listened to the movie's soundtrack.
If you're not fluent in Italian, why not watch it in German? - click here. If fluent in neither, I suggest you buy an English-language copy on ebay.
