Yesterday was my weekly night out: the weekly Batemans Bay Chess Club meeting at the Catalina Golf & Country Club.
The golfers had already retired to the bar, allowing the greens to be put to better use, when I played several games, first against a former bricklayer from Slovania, and then against a former truckdriver from Macedonia. I lost some and I won some but none of that mattered.
What mattered is that I was home by seven o'clock. A night in has become my favourite night out. Seven o'clock is my new midnight.
