See the blackened tree and blackened sleepers near the jetty? That's how close the New Year's Eve fire came! In fact, it got even closer, as the wooden verandah steps on the big house were also on fire but we could douse the flames just in time.
That's been more than nine months ago, and everything has greened up again since then. I still need to replace those burnt sleepers and also put a roof and three sides onto that little "clubhouse" by the jetty.
All in good time though, or, as we call it here, "Nelligen time", which is much easier to spell than "procrastination". Meanwhile, I spent a whole afternoon binge-watching my favourite movies in the guest cottage.
Life can be tough but someone's got to it! Better me than you!
