Mozart in Bali

Well, Bandung in Java, really, but it's close enough, and it's also a close enough rendition of Mozart's Symphony No.40 (Köchel-Verzeichnis 550; I thought I just throw this into the mix to confuse you!) written in 1788.

That was three years before his death in 1791. The poor chap had already been dead for forty-two years by the time he got to my age, but during his short life he pumped out some 800 compositions (which is why Ludwig von Köchel invented his "Verzeichnis" just to keep track).

So, there you have it: you've learned something about the anklung (that's the Indonesian musical instrument you've just been listening to), can add the word "Köchel-Verzeichnis" to your next dinner conversation, and, I hope, will take pity on young Wolfgang who died at the age of 35 (oh, and he was Austrian, too, just like another Austrian who killed himself in a bunker in Berlin in 1945, but we won't go there for now).

Don't ever say I don't look after your continuing education!
