The Mystery of the HILUX Dual Cab

With no immediate neighbours, if it weren't for the weekly garbage truck, we'd probably see no vehicle come this far down Sproxton Lane.

However, since yesterday we have had this HILUX Dual Cab parked just outside our gate. By nightfall it was still there and even when we went to bed just after ten. And it was still there this morning!

I rang the Batemans Bay Police Station to give them the registration number of this strange and suspicious and presumably abandoned car. They told me that while it is registered, legally parked, and hasn't been reported stolen, it is of no concern to them. Which it is and which it wasn't.

Then, suddenly, by eleven o'clock this morning, it was driven away and we later saw it parked outside a house way up the lane.

The explanation? It was to be a present for a 21st birthday and dad had parked it way down here, around the corner and out of sight, to keep it a surprise!

But who wants fiction when "Truth is said to be stranger than fiction ..."?

A Western Australian highway patrol pulled over a car on the main road. The copper asked, “Got any ID?”

The driver replied, “About what?”
