Tax havens and the men who stole the world

This documentary was substantially inspired by Nicholas Shaxson's book "Treasure Islands"

Billionaire Warren Buffet, currently the third-wealthiest man in the world, paid the lowest rate of tax among his office staff, including his receptionist.* Tax havens are the most important single reason why poor people and poor countries stay poor. A warning: if you're paying taxes, this book will make you very, very angry.

(there is even an audio book but it stops on page 152 - click here - with two hundred pages more to go, including the Conclusion and an addendum "Offshore after the Panama Papers")

How is it that the super-rich are enjoying the considerable pleasure of being rich in our country without contributing anything near their fair share to the defences which keep our country safe - against foreign enemies in wartime, and against disorder and disease in times of peace.

If you decide to start reading this book, which is both breathtaking and terrifying at the same time, be warned: you won't be able to put it down - and you won't be able to avoid getting very, very, VERY angry.
