This documentary with the title "Morning In The Streets 1958" was filmed in England, but it could just as easily have been filmed in the post-war Germany I grew up in. Victors or vanquished - the differences weren't all that great!
Yes, their houses were still standing while we lived in bombed-out ruins with no running water and electricity, but we all had the same lean look that comes with scarcity. I challenge you to point to even ONE obese kid in this documentary! We were all poor but we didn't know it then.
