I find television very educational. Every time Padma turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book or turn on the radio - and there are so many long-forgotten gems on the radio.
Take the BBC show 'Desert Island Discs" in which guests, always called "castaways", are asked to choose eight recordings (usually, but not always, music), a book and a luxury item that they would take if they were to be cast away on a desert island, whilst discussing their life and the reasons for their choices.
