I had to look it up to find out what the word 'nexus' means. It comes from the Latin word 'nectere', meaning "to bind or tie". It is used to describe the point where different things or ideas intersect, and it's also the title of Yuval Noah Harari's latest book.
Although it is, in my opinion, not as well researched as all his previous masterpieces, it is an amazing book, and I read all of its 400 pages - the additonal ninety pages are notes and indices -from cover to cover until I came to the inside cover which gave his short biography. And there it was: "He co-founded Sapienship ... with his husband, Itzik Yahav."
Call me old-fashioned, call me biased, call me bigoted, but that last bit about 'his husband' took the gloss of it. Only the other evening I saw on the telly this muscle-packed footballer, built like a brick sh*thouse, talking about 'his husband' and I thought to myself, "Not another one!" (in 'hir' defence, the back of 'hir' jersey clearly displayed 'hir' low IQ)
And then, of course, there are the words 'husband' and 'wife', which are gender-specific to normal relationships (I believe those relationships are still 'normal', as in the sense of 'being the norm'), and yet being used by people who don't subscribe to that norm. We live in a queer world! (as in "strange" or "peculiar", but you may read into it anything you like)
