All aboard for Europe

 

Would the last one aboard please ring up 'Frau Merkel' to book the trains? We don't want them to be late!

Actually, this was the ship Vlora which departed Albania in 1991 with a human cargo of some 20,000 and docked in the Italian port of Bari. 20,000 ? This year Germany alone expects to receive 800,000 with some suggesting that this estimate will be far exceeded.

I wonder why? Is it because EACH refugee receives on arrival, on top of free food, housing, clothing, medical aid, etc. etc., a monthly pocket-money of €143, paid - with typical German efficiency - several months in advance? That's €572 a month for a family of four which is a year's income in Syria! By comparison, Germans who worked and paid taxes in Germany all their lives and reside in an aged care facility receive a monthly pocket-money of €108 - if they can prove they need it!

I have yet to see the famously rich Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or any of the equally rich Gulf States take in any of their Muslim brothers and sisters. I wonder why?
