Another morning in the pool - and another new sign by the pool! Only a few of the regulars were there, even though we stayed in the water for three hours, swimming and waiting.
I've fallen back on using mnemonics to help me remember all their names: there was Margo (the Durrells - get it?); Roberto and Louise (Robert Louis Stevenson; and if you don't know who he was, here's another mnemonic: Treasure Island); the Yugoslav Drago (Dracula); Paul and Betty from South Durras (Paul Getty); Karen (who lived a life as interesting as Karen Blixen) ... anyway, you get the idea, don't you?
No need for a mnemonic for Brian the Scot who has the Declaration of Arbroath tattooed on his back: "To this man, in as much as he saved our people, and for upholding our freedom, we are bound by right as much as by his merits, and choose to follow him in all that he does."
I picked up another book parcel from the post office, and two more books at Vinnies: Simon Winchester's "The Men Who United the States" and "Afghanistan - A History of Conflict" by John C. Griffiths.
After lunch at our favourite Thai restaurant with Yati and Slobodan (two of the regulars in the pool), and having declined the advertised "desert" because I suspected it probably had too much sand in it, we were back at "Riverbend" just in time for me to take my afternoon nap.
Tomorrow is a weekend, but in retirement every day is a weekend!
P.S. Almost forgot to mention it: I love PHOTOSHOPping my photos! 😀
