Getting our money's worth

The beautiful changerooms at the Bay Aquatic Centre

We've just now come back from our start-of-the-week aquatherapy in the Bay. It's now our thrice-weekly routine: Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

It's already become a bit of a club with the same people meeting up again each time. We even know the lifeguards by name although we all agree we'd rather die than be given mouth-to-mouth by any of them.

Also checked the mailbox but it was empty. Next door is a new real estate agent who puts out a board each morning that reads, "We're OPEN", and below it in smaller print "... and honest." I hope it doesn't catch on. I mean, could you imagine the same sign outside your local solicitor's office or gracing the door of your local Member of Parliament?

Dropped in at Vinnies where I found another Alain de Botton, "Kiss & Tell", and a copy of Tom Phillips' "Humans - A Brief History of How We F*cked It All Up". If nothing else, it'll give me an idea for a good title for my autobiography. Parted with another two dollars for V.S. Naipaul's "Among The Believers - An Islamic Journey", and on the way out grabbed the DVD "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" for my neighbour across the river who is a John Wayne fan, and a two-disc ABC production of the documentary "Slow Train through Africa with Gridd Rhys Jones".

And now it's two days of total peace and quiet at "Riverbend" until we hit the pool again bright and early on Thursday morning. Life is good.
