The cost of the forthcoming referendum on who should be the Australian Head of State - see ballot paper above - is just the beginning. As is the cost of replacing the Queen's portrait in all the CWA Halls and RSL Clubs around Australia.
The cost of updating signage, business names, sporting merchandise and tourism infrastructure when Queensland changes its name to Kingsland will run into the tens of billions of dollars. And "Kingsland - Beautiful one day, perfect the next" simply hasn't got the same ring to it.
Looking on the bright side, we changed our national anthem just in time. Think of having had to replace all that sheet music!
