When in Rome ...

This is just II clever!
(What's the 5-Second Rule? Almost everyone has dropped some food on the floor and still wanted to eat it. If someone saw you drop it, he or she might have yelled, "5-second rule!" This so-called rule says food is OK to eat if you pick it up in 5 seconds or less.)

I've always wondered what some people do with all that time they save by texting "thnx" instead of "thanks", but apparently it's not something new but seems to have been done since Roman times.

IMHO (In my humble opinion), and TBTH (to be totally honest), and FWIW (for what it's worth), all that abbreviated texting has to do with a lack of knowledge about proper spelling. I mean, trying to memorise that CWOT stands for "complete waste of time" is just that. SRSLY (seriously), in the time it takes you to memorise those new texting rules, you might as well have memorised the old "I" before "E" except after "Old Macdonald had a farm" rule. BSAAW (Big smile and a wink).

You get to think about those things as you wallow in a warm-water pool for a couple of hours, as we've just done. We were at the pool at our usual time of 6 a.m. because we had forgotten that today is a public holiday and they don't open until 8 a.m. Still, we beat the rush which started after we had had our swim and were already sitting in the foyer sipping our hot chocolates. As they streamed through the door in all their shapes and sizes - and that was before they had disrobed! - I came to the conclusion that homo sapiens are not the most attractive species.

One particular specimen was a man who from afar looked like he had tattoos all up and down his legs. Only when he passed us did we recognise it for what it was: dried-on mud! His legs were covered from top to bottom in mud and, ignoring the instructions to take a shower before entering the pool, he plunged right in! EWW! (Disgusting!)

We're safely back home now. I'm sitting on the verandah after a big lunch and a glass of retsina; the tourist boat has gone past; they waved at me and I waved at them; and it's now the best time: reading-time!

C TT (c’est tout); A TT (à toute à l’heure)! If you have to text, you might as well do it in style! MDR (mort de rire)

P.S. Reg, I didn't know you were a regular at the pool as well until I discovered this cup with your name on it on top of the cake cabinet!
