Actually, ANZAC Day is on Thursday, the 25th, but there won't be an Australian worth his passport who won't chuck a sickie on Friday and turn the whole thing into a very long four-day weekend. So much for the country's productivity, although this is not the subject of this post.
What I'm banging on about is Don Watson's tome of a book, the 700-something-pages-long "Recollections of a Bleeding Heart - Portrait of Paul Keating PM". I won't crack it all in one long weekend but I give it a go; after all, Paul Keating is one of the most influential politicians this country has ever had - and that's not even counting his foul language.
I'm a rusted-on Liberal voter but who could ever forget Keating's "If there was a university degree for greed, you cunts would all get first-class honours" or "He is simply a shiver looking for a spine to run up".
