Because I first saw "Casablanca" at an impressionable age, it pretty much is responsible for my idea of romance with a capital-R. Of course, the Romance in "Casablanca" is a doomed romance, but then, probably all romances are doomed if you think about it long enough.
One of the many early Christmas presents I ordered for myself is a copy of "We'll Always Have Casablanca", said to be filled with fresh insights into the creation, production, and legacy of this movie which continues to dazzle audiences almost eighty years after its release.
If you're a fan, buying this book could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. "It's still the same old story", but expanded and intensified.
